Empowering Roma for a shared labour market: 20 years of projects in the Danube region

The first international conference of the Danube Labour Market Policy Platform for Roma integration, hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection in Vienna. Working languages English and German with simultaneous interpretation.

The conference is hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, with an opening address by Minister Korinna Schumann.

It is held within the coordination of Priority Area 9 «People and Skills» of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and addresses key questions of labour market policy for the empowerment and integration of vulnerable groups such as the Roma community, with particular regard to the challenges Roma communities face in the Danube region. The conference also marks several anniversaries:

— 20 years: the European Parliament resolution on the situation of Roma in the EU, and the Thara projects of Volkshilfe Austria

— 15 years: the EU Strategic Framework for Roma equality, inclusion and participation, and the inclusion of vulnerable groups within the Danube Region Strategy

— 10 years: the Roma labour market empowerment programmes and projects in Austria, co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF)
